The UCLA Space Medicine Program is an innovative, multidisciplinary training and research initiative designed to prepare the next generation of experts in human health for space exploration. Anchored by the UCLA Space Medicine Fellowship, the program offers an intensive two-year curriculum that blends clinical training with aerospace rotations, such as at SpaceX, a specialized engineering component developed with Caltech and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, research collaborations with NASA, and hands-on experience in biomechanical and austere environments. Fellows develop the skills to address the unique physiological and medical challenges of space travel, advancing both human spaceflight and terrestrial medicine. The program reflects UCLA’s broader leadership in space health research, aerospace partnerships, and commitment to expanding knowledge at the frontier of medicine and space exploration.
