Paul Lukac, MD, MBA, MS, is the inaugural Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer for UCLA Health and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics. He co-chairs UCLA’s Health AI Council and directs the health system’s AI strategy, spanning governance, evaluation, and the safe, scaled deployment of AI across care settings. His research focuses on real-world evaluation of novel clinical AI use cases, including leading one of the first randomized controlled trials of ambient AI documentation, published in NEJM AI. He frequently speaks nationally on the responsible and evidence-based use of AI in healthcare.
