| Renée Fleming is an American soprano and, since May 2023, the World Health Organization’s Goodwill Ambassador for Arts and Health. Born in Indiana, Pennsylvania, she trained at the State University of New York at Potsdam and the University of Rochester, and in 2008 became the first woman to solo headline a Metropolitan Opera opening night gala in its 125-year history; she is the only classical artist to have sung the national anthem at the Super Bowl. A five-time Grammy winner and recipient of the US National Medal of Arts, she has championed the intersection of arts, health and neuroscience through presentations in more than 60 cities worldwide and a partnership between the Kennedy Center and the National Institutes of Health. |
