Professor Armais Kamalov is an Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Director of the Medical Scientific and Educational Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University, a position he has held since 2014. Born in Tbilisi in 1961, he trained in urology at Moscow’s Institute of Surgery and has served since 2001 as Professor and Head of the Urology Course at Moscow State University, and since 2010 as Chief of its Urology and Andrology Department. He is recognised as one of the pioneers of holmium and thulium laser techniques for prostate and bladder tumour surgery in Russia.
