Dr Jessamy Bagenal is Senior Executive Editor at The Lancet, where she sits on the senior leadership group and leads on clinical content, research integrity, and open access strategy. She trained and worked as a surgeon in the NHS for nearly a decade before joining The Lancet as an Editor in 2018, rising to Executive Editor in 2022 and Senior Executive Editor in 2023. She holds an MBBS, MRCS, and an MPH from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina’s Gillings School of Global Public Health.
