Nizar Zein

Dr. Nizar Zein is a Professor of Medicine and the inaugural Endowed Chair in Liver Diseases and Transplantation. An internationally recognized leader in hepatology, he has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications, led major clinical trials, holds multiple patents, and founded a pioneering research group at the Cleveland Clinic focused on 3D printing of solid organs.

From 2015 to 2021, Dr. Zein served as Chairman of Global Patient Services at the Cleveland Clinic, expanding its global footprint, and from 2021 to 2023, he was Chief of Staff at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, overseeing all clinical operations and leading quality, safety, and innovation initiatives.

A dedicated educator, he has been honored as Teacher of the Year by the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. He also serves on multiple healthcare boards and advises venture capital firms in the healthcare sector. Dr. Zein has received numerous accolades, including the American Liver Foundation Scholar Award, the Cleveland Clinic Innovator Award, and the Presidential Medal from Ana G. Méndez University of Puerto Rico.
