| Professor Tan Eng Chye is a Singaporean mathematician who has served as the fifth President of the National University of Singapore since 2018. He earned a First Class Honours degree in Mathematics from NUS and a PhD from Yale University, joining NUS as faculty in 1985 and later serving as Deputy President of Academic Affairs and Provost before his presidency. A specialist in representation theory and invariant theory, he pioneered several of NUS’s academic programmes, including the University Scholars Programme and Grade-free Year, and received Singapore’s Public Administration Medal (Gold) in 2014. |
